A Quilt

Curt's grandma is an AMAZING quilter. She designs most of them rather than use patterns and her trademark are these little people that she creates. She's so talented. She hasn't done a little people quilt in several years because her arthritis was getting too bad, but she has lots of quilts already made that she's been saving for future great-grandchildren. When we were at their house today, she let us pick out one for Aspen. It was SO hard to even choose, they are all SO exquisite. I finally decided on this one because it has a little boy and girl, like what we are going to have and it's hand-quilted, which is something she doesn't do anymore because of the pain in her hands.
Anyways, wanted to share. I love it!

I do have a face...

I realize that just about every belly shot I've taken this time around I've cut my head off in the pictures and have just focused on my belly. I was looking at my weekly belly pictures that I took when I was pregnant with Max and I have a face in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. But in my defense, when I was pregnant with Max I actually had time to do my makeup and hair more often. This time around, by the time I actually remember to take a picture, it's usually when I haven't showered in 3 days (ok, that's only a slight exaggeration) and if I don't take the opportunity to take a picture right then when i'm thinking about it, then I won't remember to do it for another two weeks. So that's why I usually just take a picture of my belly.
Now you know.
I'm sure you were all wondering about the whereabouts of my head, lol.

But alas, yesterday morning I remembered to take a belly picture AFTER my weekly (hehe) shower and AFTER I had put makeup on. It's nice to put a face on a belly, don't you think?
But I must apologize my confused expressions, lol. I never knew when Curt was going to take the picture and it was always 2 seconds after by best smile :)

Almost 34 Weeks.

Cutest Bibs!

There is a lady on my mommy board named Aimee who has an etsy shop and does really great work. I just ordered some custom-made bibs from her and I think they turned out SO great!! I'm so excited to see them in person!
Check out her shop if you are interested! I've ordered several pairs of earrings from her and I always get lots of compliments on them when I wear them.

A Baby is Coming...

My sister called today and said that she has preeclampsia and they are wanting to induce her. She is hoping to make it until Monday or Wednesday so that she can be over 36 weeks. She is due 10 days before me. Please say a prayer for her that baby is ok and that her lungs are developed enough. They wanted to go ahead and induce her today, she just wanted to wait a few more days. So the doctor put her on complete bedrest until Monday and if she has any changes she is to report back to the hospital immediately. She's so scared and nervous right now. If you could just spare a quick prayer for her today that would be much appreciated.
Her hospital is over 3 hours away from me, so I don't know if I could make it there to be with her either. I may go next weekend after she is born. It's hard being away.

I was really hoping that she would go a few more weeks, but it doesn't look like its going to happen. This also means that I am the only one in my immediate family to ever carry a baby full-term. We've had a 17 weeker (passed) 24 weeker (she passed away), 32 weeker, 34 weeker and now a 35-36 weeker. I just feel like we've had our share of NICU's and was hoping we would get a break with me and my sister. :(

List of things to do...

I don't feel like I have a ton left to do, but I probably have more to do than I think.

Things to Do
Finish cleaning and reorganizing my house.

Install the carseat base

Find a Hotsling pattern that I like and purchase one.

Buy a pack of newborn diapers and some more cloth diapers to use after those are gone. I picked up a few covers today.

Pack my bag and her's. Or at least print out the list and start getting stuff organized to put in the bags.

Get my pump out and make sure all the pieces are clean and in good working order.

Have Max make her a stuffed animal from Build-a-Bear (that's going to be his gift to her)

Buy some bath stuff (wash clothes, baby wash, etc)

Buy some burb clothes/bibs. I might look on etsy for some cute ones.

Get a new baby book to fill out at the hospital

That's all I can think of for right now.

32 Week Appointment

I had my 32 week appointment. I think it went really well, considering I was there for a couple hours. But I was able to talk to my doctor, Dr. M about several things I was concerned about and she listened to my concerns and took action. She is seriously such an AWESOME doctor!! I'm so blessed to have her.

When she first walked in though, she wanted to know why we hadn't scheduled my c-section with her. I told her it was all Curt's fault. He had to have the 5th, and when we found out that my other favorite doctor was going to be delivering that day, I agreed to scheduling it on the 5th with Dr. C. So when Dr. M walked in, she was like, "So I'm not doing your c-section?" I felt bad and told her about Curt's obsession with "good" numbers. She completely understood and even laughed about it. Then she said, "Well I can come in and do it for you if you would like." I immediately agreed and said that would be SO awesome!!! I couldn't believe she would do that!! So she had me rescheduled my c-section with her for the 5th!! That is such a relief!! I had already talked to Dr. M at previous appointments about having Aspen come with me into the recovery room after my surgery instead of going to the nursery. She was completely fine with that plan and said she would back me up on my decision to do that. So I was a little nervous about having to talk to Dr. C about doing that. But NOW, with Dr. M doing the c-section I can still have Aspen come into the recovery room with me. I'm sooooo happy about that!!

So after we talked about the actual c-section, we talked about the horrible contractions I've been having for such a long time. I told her they have gotten so painful, much more than when I was pregnant with Max. I wasn't really worried about them causing me to dilate or anything, I was just tired of the pain they are causing me. She checked my cervix, which she commented was so small and she doubted I would ever be able to have a vaginal birth, which we already knew. Thank goodness for modern medicine. I can't imagine what kind of predicament I would have been in had I lived 100 years ago. But the good thing is that because it's so small, everything is tight like it should be. I'm sure you all wanted to know that TMI bit of information, hehe. So she wrote me a prescription for something to keep the contractions away (YAY!) so I can relax a bit more.

Also, I told her that I didn't think that Aspen was head down. I feel most of her kicks on the side of my stomach and I can feel her head at the top of my stomach. It just felt different than when I was pregnant with Max. With him, I could feel his butt and he kept his feet planted in my ribs, lol. But with this one, I just knew she wasn't head down. Sure enough, I was right. Aspen is breech. Normally, the doctor would be more concerned about her breeched positioned, but because I'm already scheduled for a c-section it's not an issue. She said she might do a quick ultrasound at 36 weeks just to make sure she's still breech, just in case I do happen to go into labor on my own. But it's just a precautionary measure more than anything.

She also had me go to the lab for a NST (non-stress test) to make sure that the contractions were causing a dip in the baby's heartbeat. So I was in there for about 1/2 and hour. Everything checked out great and it was nice to be able to sit there and listen to her heartbeat for a while. I called my mom and let her listen to it too, which she thought was so cool. So I'm glad I was able to share that with her.

So overall, it was a great appointment/day. I feel more comfortable about everything and I'm starting to get excited about her being here soon! I go back in two weeks for another appointment! Only a month and a half left!!

Oh and one more thing, CBS was at the hospital with the doctor's in my practice filming a special about women's health. So I'll have to find out when that will be airing. I think it would be cool to watch that!

Yet Another...

I'm sure you are probably getting tired of seeing my bare belly, lol. That's ok, I am too. But I have to keep taking pictures of it every other week, because that's what I did with Max and you know, you HAVE to be fair!
I think my belly has FINALLY outgrown my boobs! Hooray for that!
Photobucket
And Max wanted to be in on the action. Sorry he's half cut off, self timer issues, lol

And a little progression chart I made! Grow Baby Grow!
The oranges and grapefruit reference is because that's what I've eaten/craved the most of this pregnancy!

We are getting down to the wire! Only about 7 1/2 weeks left if you count to my c-section date!

SUPER Excited!!

There is this bedding set at Pottery Barn Kids that I absolutely LOVE! But I wasn't in love with the price tag, especially since I'm not too keen on using bumper pads in the crib anyways. So I just bought the crib sheet from the set, since it had the whole pattern that I loved on it.

It's this set,

Anyways, twice a year here they have something called the Little Treasures Consignment Sale where people can sign up to sell baby/children's items. It's going on this week and I'm actually selling a lot of Max's things in it. The first day I went and looked at the crib bedding items and found a great set that someone was selling. It's a PBK's set, Maggie's Garden or something, but it matches the sheet from PBK that I love so much now! I got the set, a bumper pad, crib ruffle and a sheet for $19!!
Curt set the crib up last night and I was so happy with how well it went together. I will probably keep the bumper pad in there for the first month and then take it out until she is a little older. But it's SO cute!! I'll probably go back and get the matching stroller blanket that goes with the sheet.

Here's pictures of it set up. Sorry I don't show the whole crib, we are in the process of reorganizing, so there is actually a stack of stuff in front of it, lol.

PLUS! That's not all! I had purchased a sheet and blanket from the Dwell Studio line of bedding from Target. At the consignment, someone had a beautiful classic bedding set for sale for $10!! AND it matches the sheet and blanket from Target perfectly too! Couldn't believe it!!
Crib sheet pattern,

I'm not sure where the crib set came from that I got at the sale, I don't recognize it, but I will probably set that set up soon to see which one I like best, so I'll take pics of it when I do that.

What Do We Still Need?

Ok, so we haven't gotten as much ready for Aspen as we should have by this point. I think this weekend we are going to try and Max's crib out so that we can at least have that ready.
I made a list of things we need and whether or not we still actually need it, lol. I should print it out and carry it with me in case I'm out at a store and can't think of something to buy. Luckily we have a lot of stuff left over from Max.

Think Before You Speak

Last night we were at my aunt's house when her neighbor came by for a visit. She looked at me and "Yep, you can definitely tell you are having a girl! You've gotten fat all over!"
WTH!!! You don't tell a pregnant lady she is fat! Plus I was kneeling on the floor with Max, so my legs probably looked bigger, because she then said, "Especially in your legs and face."
I had no idea what to say!! I've tried so hard to not gain a ton of weight this pregnancy. I'm up 15 lbs so far at almost 30 weeks. I was thinking that wasn't SO bad, but now I feel fat and frumpy.
Why do people have to open their big ole' mouths!?
